Busy designing new carved ink stamps as I practice my technique in preperation for a printmaking workshop project. Tossed some of the designs onto a greeting card.
Here’s a simple 2-color card, gold with red over print. I like the red and gold combo.
Finally getting back to card design. Feels good!
Another design tonight. Owl and books. A bookish owl I suppose.
A new Thank You design, born from necessity. I was out of custom Thank You cards. 😎
Half way through this decoupage box. Fun day in the studio.
I spent most of today preparing my lists of stamps for my topical collections. One of the topics I will be collecting are postage stamps depicting mailboxes and postal delivery.
As I did my research, I came upon this marvelous 1971 stamp issued in Belgium. So of course, I designed a greeting card for it! ~TH~
This morning I completed a bookmark card, using my now sturdy paper dinner napkin. I used the test scrap of napkin to create an attractive bookmark to be included in the matching greeting card.
I created a pocket for the inside of the greeting card, cutting viewing windows into the pocket so the recipient can see the bookmark images, yet the item itself is secure in the card.
I cut an old ledger page to size so it would fit nicely inside for the message.
This is a large greeting card, 8.5 x 5.5 inches. ~TH~
I have a favorite coffee shop in town (who doesn’t?). Sometimes they have coffee/cocktail napkins with very cool designs. I have used these napkins before with decoupage, with very nice results. BUT- it is tissue paper, so you need to be gentle. The napkins are always 2-ply, so first you should separate the backing tissue from the image tissue.
Tonight I experimented with gluing the tissue down onto a heartier paper stock. My mother-in-law who painted with watercolors had a large number of poster proofs for some reason. The paper is fantastic, and the proof images do not show through the heavy stock. So, now I simply cut the stock down to size and use it as substrate.
Here you can see that I’ve used some PVA to glue down some napkin tissue to the blank side of the stock. Once it’s dry, I can cut it and use in my projects. Happy! ~TH~
